Blues try to snap Oilers' win streak in St. Louis
Hockey Betting Lines
03/28/2010 -
(Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Even if they don't make the playoffs, at least the Blues
figured out how to beat the Oilers.
St. Louis will try for its third straight win over the club this evening at
Scottrade Center while Edmonton attempts to avoid its first loss at St. Louis
in nearly three years.
St. Louis recorded a 3-1 win over Los Angeles on Thursday to snap a two-game
slide and improve to 10-5-0 over its last 15 games. Still, the Blues trail the
Avalanche by 10 points for the Western Conference's eighth spot with eight
games to play.
Paul Kariya had a goal and an assist while both B.J. Crombeen and T.J. Oshie
scored for the Blues. Chris Mason made 30 saves.
"You never know, we're definitely far from the situation we'd like to be in
but we are where we are [and] we're not going to give up," Mason said of the
Blues' prospects at making the postseason.
St. Louis picked up a victory in the opener of a three-game homestand and won
for the fourth time in its last six as the host. The Blues are still just
13-18-5 as the host this year.
They also haven't picked up a win at home over the Oilers since March 29,
2007, dropping five straight since. St. Louis did snap an eight-game overall
series losing streak on Dec. 21 with a 7-2 win at Edmonton.
Andy McDonald scored twice in that win and Alex Steen had a goal and three
assists. Steen then netted a game-winning goal at the Oilers on Jan. 28, while
Mason made 24 saves in the Blues' second straight win in the series.
The Oilers may find it tough to keep up their dominance in St. Louis. Edmonton
is a mere 8-24-3 as the guest this year and has lost six straight and 17 of 18
on the road.
Edmonton begins a four-game road trip this evening after a 3-1-0 homestand
that featured three straight victories before Friday's 3-2 loss versus
Anaheim.
Gilbert Brule and Marc Pouliot scored for the Oilers, who remain last in the
NHL with 55 points. Jeff Deslauriers made 37 saves in defeat.
"We didn't have a good first period and get off to the start we wanted. We
were kind of playing catch-up even though the score was tied. We couldn't put
enough shifts together in a row," said Oilers forward Patrick O'Sullivan, who
returned from a seven-game absence due to a finger injury.
However, while O'Sullivan returned, forward Sam Gagner missed the game with a
hip injury and is doubtful for tonight.

MySportsbook.com Releases World Series Championship Lines
New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox early favorites to win 2008 World Series
The Major League Baseball season starts this weekend and MySportsbook.com, a leading online sportsbook for over 8 years, is the first to offer baseball sports betting lines on who will win the 2007 World Series.
"The World Series is the biggest baseball event in the sports betting world and MySportsbook.com is excited that we are first to market with betting lines on every team," says Tim Dalton, Marketing Director, MySportsbook.com. "We are getting things ready for a great baseball season and our members are looking forward to our Player Payback Bonuses, as well as Dime Lines, all season long."
Going in to this weekend, MySportsbook.com's favorites to win the World Series are the New York Yankees at 7-2 and last year’s winners the Chicago White Sox at 9-2.
"These betting lines are ripe for the picking," Dalton added, "baseball fans know that the season is long and many factors, including players staying healthy, will affect these Future odds as the baseball season progresses. Betting on your favorite team in the beginning of the season could prove quite lucrative. We are seeing examples of this right now in the NCAA College Basketball Tournament with a lucky few that placed pre-season bets on George Mason to win it all. Anything can happen."
