Three Suns combine for 83 points in Game 1 win over Spurs
Basketball Betting Lines
05/04/2010 -
Phoenix, AZ (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Steve Nash, Jason Richardson and Amare
Stoudemire combined for 83 points as the Suns beat San Antonio, 111-102, in
the opener of their Western Conference semifinal series.
Nash totaled 33 points and 10 assists, Richardson scored 27 and Stoudemire
ended with 23 points and 13 rebounds. The starting backcourt of Nash and
Richardson went 23-of-35 from the floor.
Phoenix, coming off a first-round series win over Portland, held on despite
shooting just 5-of-14 from the field in the last quarter. They made 15 foul
shots in the final period.
Manu Ginobili scored 27, while Tony Parker came off the bench for 26 for the
Spurs, who beat Dallas in six games in the conference quarterfinals. Tim
Duncan finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks in defeat.
Game 2 is Wednesday in Phoenix.
Stoudemire's two free throws expanded the Suns to an 89-75 lead less than two
minutes into the fourth quarter, but the Spurs eventually rallied and scored
13 in a row. Ginobili's runner capped the burst for a 94-93 margin with 4:26
left.
Stoudemire countered with two free throws, but the Spurs were within three
again on Parker's jumper for a 98-95 score. Stoudemire then sank a bank shot
and Richardson drained a huge three-pointer for a 103-95 difference with 1:23
left, essentially ending San Antonio's chance at stealing Game 1.
George Hill scored seven points during the first quarter for the Spurs, but
Nash dominated the period with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting, helping the Suns
to a 31-22 lead. Nash hit a three-pointer for a 14-5 cushion and the advantage
reached as high as 11 in the quarter.
Ginobili's two foul shots had the visitors within 37-33, but an ensuing 11-1
flurry opened the fast-breaking Suns with another double-digit lead. A Grant
Hill steal led to Richardson's fast-break layup, and Nash's jumper capped the
rally for a 48-34 lead.
Down 57-47 at the half, the Spurs came out on fire in the third, scoring 12 in
a row to go in front. Ginobili's three-pointer finished the run for a 67-64
contest with 7 1/2 minutes left in the quarter.
It stayed tight until the latter stages when the Suns took command. Enjoying
the up-tempo style, Phoenix scored 10 in a row. Nash started the run with a
jumper, Channing Frye added a pull-up three-pointer, Richardson jammed off a
great bounce pass from Nash, and Richardson ended the monumental burst with a
three-ball from the right corner in the final two minutes.
It was 85-75 going to the fourth quarter.

Sportsbook betting odds favor Europe in Ryder Cup
September 19, – Despite holding a decided edge in the all-time series, with 24 wins, 2 ties and 10 losses, Team USA is the underdog again heading into the Ryder Cup in Kidare, Ireland this weekend, according to MySportsbook.com. The Europeans have captured four of the past five editions, including their largest victory ever, an 18 ½ to 9 ½ thumping in Michigan in 2004. Current Ryder Cup betting odds favor the Europeans to continue their winning ways; they are a 4-5 bet to take the title, compared to 6-5 for the Americans.
Despite being knocked out in the first round of World Match play by Shaun Micheel, Tiger Woods is predicted to lead the US charge and be their highest point scorer for the week, with odds listed at 9-4 that he outpoints all other American players, including Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson and Chris DiMarco to name a few. Team USA has four relatively unknown players on the roster but all four are 2007 tournament winners and have posted some of season’s best performances, each earning over $1.5 million on the PGA TOUR. They include Zach Johnson, Vaughan Taylor, JJ Henry and Brett Wetterich.
The experienced European squad includes the likes of Luke Donald, Sergio Garcia, Padraig Harrington, Jose Maria Olazabal and Darren Clarke, who’s emotions will be tested after the passing of his wife to a battle with cancer. Donald and Garcia are in particularly good form and each is a 5-1 bet to lead the European squad in the points race. Donald has proven he can go head to head with Woods at a major event after a run for the $1.2 million purse at the PGA Championship. Garcia’s Ryder Cup credentials prove he’s ready for battle too.

MySportsbook.com: NBA Championship Odds
With the playoffs about two months away, the top two teams in the Western Conference are the clear cut leaders to win the NBA Championship. The Dallas Mavericks have the best record in the NBA (44-9) and have been absolutely scorching since the second week of the season. What makes the Mavs’ record more impressive is the fact that they dropped their first four games of the season. Currently they have won 17 out of their last 18 and are MySportsbook.com’s favorite (2-1) to win it all. Right behind the Mavs are the Pacific leading Phoenix Suns (39-13). Last season, the Suns lost in the Conference Finals to non-other then the Mavericks four games to two. Of course the Suns were without center Amare Stoudemire who has is averaging 19.9 PPG and 9.5 RPG since coming back from his knee injury. Unlike the Mavs, the Suns have struggled a bit lately having lost their last three and four out of their last seven. Of course the main reason for their three straight loses is due to the absence of two time MVP Steve Nash, who is out with a shoulder injury. Heads-up, the Mavs have beaten the Suns in both of their meetings this season.
In the Eastern Conference, the Pistons (32-19) are the favorites to win it all at 6-1. The addition of Chris Webber seems to have been a good move for the Pistons. Since coming over from the 76ers, Webber has averaged 13.1 PPG and 7.3 RPG and the Pistons are 11-4. Even though the defending champion Heat are currently on the playoff making cusp, they are the Eastern Conference team that is getting the most action to win it all (9-1). The fact that Shaquille O’Neal is back in the starting lineup after missing 39 games probably has something to do with this. No doubt, Shaq makes a difference when in the lineup as their winning six out of their last seven would indicate.
