Vidic agrees to new deal with UnitedSoccer Betting Lines07/23/2010 - Manchester, England (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Nemanja Vidic has agreed to a contract extension with Manchester United, chief executive David Gill confirmed Friday. Vidic's current deal expires in two years, and he has verbally agreed to a new deal that will add an unknown amount of years to the contract. "It's yet to be signed - the paperwork is now being sorted by our lawyers and being checked by Nemanja's advisors. He's still away on holiday but the plan is that when he gets back the papers will be signed," Gill told MUTV. "We've shaken hands on it and we're confident it will all be signed and sealed in early August." Vidic, a Serbian, has developed into one of the best center backs in the world since joining United in 2006. He was rumored to on his way out of Manchester, but Gill also dismissed those reports Friday. "There was a lot of speculation about Nemanja's future, but in my view it's been the media drumming some old stories," Gill said. "They certainly didn't come out of the Manchester United camp and I'm confident they didn't come out of Nemanja's camp."

Everyone was shocked when Al Davis took Heyward-Bey with the eighth overall pick in April's draft, but the kid has a tremendous amount of talent and if quarterback JaMarcus Russell takes the next step this year, the former Maryland product could blossom. Plus, Heyward-Bey will be looking to prove the people wrong who said Oakland should have taken Michael Crabtree with the No. 8 pick.
